Witch Sellen questline – Elden Ring Wiki Guide

Witch Sellen is one of the many NPCs you will encounter who have a side quest to complete in Elden Ring. For this part of our Elden Ring guide, you’ll find details on where to find her, how to start her questline, and the consequences of the choices you make along the way.

Where to find Witch Sellen in Waypoint Ruins

The Witch Sellen is initially found in Waypoint Ruins at Limgrave. You’ll need to fight a Pumpkin Head boss to gain access to his chamber, located at the back of this small underground arena.

Go through the door and report to Witch Sellen. She reveals that she is an outcast, but is willing to teach you witchcraft. Accept his offer to become his apprentice. As you find Glintstone’s Sorcery Scrolls, be sure to give them to him to unlock new Sorcery options.

From here you will have to continue your own journey around the world until you reach the Mount Gelmir area of the Altus Plateau. Here you will find the necessary key item that will allow you to progress in Sellen’s quest.

Searching for the Azure Wizard at Mount Gelmir

Head to the Hermit Village of Mount Gelmir and progress to the far end to find a Grace Site called Primeval Sorcerer Azure. Here you can talk to the Primeval Sorcerer Azur, who will give you Azure Comet. Note that aside from receiving the Azur Comet, you have no other options for interacting with Azur.

Return to Sellen in the Waypoint Ruins and choose the new “Show Azure Sorcery” dialog option. Azur was Sellen’s first teacher, and she says he must see something in you to give you the comet. You can tap Sellen to ask him to tell you his story. She tells how she was exiled from the Academy of Raya Lucaria and asks you to help her with the Primal Glitterstone.

You can either choose “let us travel together” or “let me think about it”. If you choose to take the journey with Sellen, she will ask you to find Master Lusat and give you the Sellian Selbreaker. Finally, if you don’t know where to go from here, you can talk to him further, asking him for a lead on Lusat. She will tell you that he has gone home, Sellia, city of witchcraft.

Find the sorcerer Lusat in Sellia, city of witchcraft

Sellia, city of witchcraft and, more specifically, to the Sellia hideout. This is hidden behind an illusory wall just southwest of Fort Faroth in Caelid, the nearest Site of Grace being the plague church. Go inside and look for the hidden path along the northwest part of the cavern. Full information on how to get through this dungeon can be found on the Sellia Hideaway page of this guide.

At the very bottom of the cave, you will find a large blue seal, similar to those used to seal the entrances to Raya Lucaria. Approach it to see a prompt appear to use the Sellian Sealbreaker. This will break the seal and allow you to enter the room where you will find Lusat. Talking to them here will grant you the Stars of Doom.

Go back to the Waypoint Ruins (you can get there quickly from Lusat’s location) and tell Sellen where Lusat is. She will give you Starlight Shards in return, then mentions in passing that she thinks the bodies of Lusat and Azur need to be brought back to the Academy, and that she wishes she could do so “if only I could undo those chains”.

After defeating Starscourge Radahn in Caelid

At this point, you should have defeated Starscourge Radahn; this will allow you to open new dialogue options with Sellen. If you’ve already beaten Radahn by this point, simply reload the area to open his new dialogue option; however, if you haven’t already, deal with it now and then return to Sellen in the Waypoint Ruins.

Sellen will now ask you for yet another favor and explain that the shape you see in front of her is not her real body. She tells you to fetch her body from the Weeping Peninsula; finding Sellen at this new location is necessary to advance his quest, so get out of here and head to the Witchbane Ruins.

Where to find Witch Sellen in Witchbane Ruins

Make your way to the Witchbane Ruins on the Weeping Peninsula, on the west side just south of Marika’s Fourth Church, to find the Witch Sellen chained up in the dungeon. When you reach the ruins, talk to Sellen and she will give it to you Primal Glitterstone to conserve.

From there, you need to find the location of his third form, which requires Ranni’s questline progression, as you’ll need to access Seluvis’ secret chamber for the next step in Sellen’s quest.

Where to find the witch Sellen in Seluvis’ chamber

To continue Sellen’s quest, you need to find the secret chamber of Seluvis, which you may have discovered as part of the Seluvis questline. which is located east of Ranni’s Rise. If you haven’t already, the Seluvis’s Questline page in this guide gives the precise location of the Hidden Chamber, northeast of Ranni’s Rise and obscured by illusory ground.

Enter the chamber and roll against the far wall to reveal an illusory wall, behind which you’ll find Sellen imprisoned. Here you will have the option to “transplant the Primal Glitterstone. This will allow this iteration of Sellen to revive, finally granting her freedom of movement. She will note that she plans to return to Raya Lucaria’s Academy. Waypoint Ruins now Sellen won’t be there.

Speak to Castellan Jerren at Castle Redmane

For the final leg of Sellen’s journey, you’ll need to return to Redmane Castle and speak to Castellan Jerren, who will note that with Radahn defeated, he is no longer required to stay at the castle. You can now find it in the Witchbane Ruins, overlooking Sellen’s body, now shrouded in blood. He tells you that she was known as the Graven Witch, obsessed with restoring the primeval stream, and was the most dangerous mage known to Raya Lucaria Academy.

Exhaust Jerren’s dialogue and fast travel to Raya Lucaria to get to the end of Sellen’s questline. Note that if you can’t find him at Redmane Castle or Witchbane Ruins, he’s probably already moved on to Raya Lucaria. If Sellen’s body is surrounded by blood, you will know to find him in the final location.

Witch Sellen’s Final Battle

Go to the Great Library of Raya Lucaria and at the entrance you will see two Summoning Stones. A red allows you to be summoned to challenge the Witch Sellen, while gold allows you to be summoned to assist her.
