Starfield modders are already gearing up to fix game bugs

A star field Community Patch is organized by future star field modders in anticipation of notoriously prevalent bugs in Bethesda games. Although star field While not expected to release until next year, the modding community is preparing ahead of time to quickly deliver a community patch to address the most significant issues that may be present at launch.

star field has been in development for over seven years, shortly after Bethesda’s release Fallout 4 in 2015, and is shaping up to be a huge sci-fi RPG encompassing many planets while featuring space gameplay. Bethesda is well known for ambitious RPGs such as To fall and Ancient Scrolls franchises, though scale and complexity have also led to Bethesda’s games gaining another, less favorable reputation: they’re often plagued with numerous bugs and glitches upon release. It’s partly because of this issue that Bethesda games tend to have very strong modding communities that take matters into their own hands when it comes to tweaking game issues, refining gameplay, and to add new features.

The star field Community Patch will have a similar scope to bug fix mods for Skyrim and To fall, and will focus on fixing errors and issues rather than adding new content. The mod seeks to fix misplaced items, script errors, interrupted quests, game-breaking achievements, missing attributes in game data, and spelling errors. The patch organizers have explicitly stated that it will not add new content such as new quests or new items, it will not bring balance changes aside from very obvious errors, or it will not will not make any other changes that go against the original vision of the game. The community patch will be hosted on Nexus Mods and GitHub and will be free and open source.

Since star field will reuse Bethesda’s creation engine, modders coming from Fallout 4 and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim should hopefully have similar methods for making changes. Bethesda games have always been very mod-friendly, dating back even to The Elder Scrolls: Arena from 1994 which has dozens of mods available on Nexus Mods. In another move to bolster the modding community, Bethesda said that star field will support mods on Xbox Series X/S as well as PC, finally bridging the content gap between console and PC gamers.

Although the expectation of star field is far from over, the fact that the game is already attracting a community of modders bodes well for its future success. Mods have long been an important aspect of Bethesda games along with many other titles, bringing new life to games and extending their life for years beyond the final update. Without the hard work of talented modders, far fewer people today would still be playing older titles like The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
