Some MCU characters are extremely powerful, whether they’re villains or heroes. Celestials, on the other hand, are powerful cosmic beings who can literally create and devour universes. They were present long before the Big Bang and are the oldest race to exist. Defeating them is no small feat, but some of these characters have done it in the comics and the rest might be powerful enough to do so in the future.
The Mad Titan, Thanos, was one of the most powerful beings in the universe when he wielded the Infinity Gauntlet. He destroyed several planets and civilizations. In fact, in the Marvel comics, Thanos successfully defeated two Celestials even when they threw planets at him. Also, her will and determination are her greatest strength which allowed her to acquire all the Infinity Stones in the first place.
2. The Phoenix Force
We know of the Phoenix Force because it inhabits Jean Gray in the MCU. Phoenix is a cosmic entity that is the epitome of all psionic energy that has ever existed. This entity is powerful enough to swallow stars and destroy universes. Moreover, the Dark Phoenix has unimaginable power. The Phoenix Force is also immortal and indestructible. So it wouldn’t be a surprise if he beat a Celestial.
Galactus is literally the devourer of worlds. He even faced four Celestials and defeated them by absorbing the powers of the planets. After all, he can even revive otherwise dead planets. He is also the oldest living entity in the Marvel Universe. He once tried to wipe out the Celestials entirely by devouring every planet they infused with their seeds. Eventually, Galactus became arguably the greatest threat to the Celestials.
4. Reed Richards
There is hardly anyone as smart or even smarter than Reed Richards. Reeds’ interdimensional council, made up of a hundred variants of Mr. Fantastic himself, had battled Celestials and even wielded the power of the Ultimate Nullifier. He could easily build a machine powerful enough to defeat the Celestials. In fact, he used his wits to recreate the Multiverse after the Secret Wars.
5. Black bolt
The king of the Inhumans and ruler of Attilan has unimaginable powers. His voice is one of the most powerful weapons in the universe as his whispers can destroy armies and cities while his screams can destroy cities and even planets when powerful enough. Even a slight sigh can kill countless people. He fought Thanos and Galactus with his voice and landed a faltering blow. Above all, he defeated a host of Celestials in an alternate universe.
6. Scarlet Witch
The Scarlet Witch is one of the most powerful beings in comics. She possesses both the powers of Mind Stone and Chaos Magic. She can rewrite reality, raise the dead, and wipe out all mutants. In fact, she also defeated the Dark Phoenix. The MCU in the future will be able to explore her powers more as she is actually extremely powerful in the comics and could definitely try to defeat a Celestial if she was really determined.
Thor has already defeated Apocalypse who was blessed by the Celestials. They had given Apocalypse Celestial armor and made him their Avatar on Earth. However, Thor the Thunder God defeated him with his sheer determination and might. Although Apocalypse nearly broke Thor’s spine, his ego and pride kept him going. He turned to dark magic and finally defeated him.
8. Guardians of the Galaxy
The Guardians have already defeated a Celestial in the MCU. Quill’s father, Ego, was a living, celestial planet who wanted to use Quill to advance his kind and ultimately take over the world. However, the Guardians defeated him by bombarding the planet and destroying its “heart”. It took about 6 people to do it, but it was an impressive feat nonetheless.
No MCU character can truly be underestimated. Dormammu, an ultra-powerful interdimensional entity was defeated by Doctor Strange in the MCU. So Marvel characters can definitely defeat Celestials if they really give it their all.
