Kentucky State Police investigate Henry County crash


The driver was cited for several offenses

CAMPBELLSBOURG, Ky. (04/19/2022) – On Monday, April 18, 2022, Kentucky State Police Station 5 received a 911 call at approximately 3:15 p.m. in reference to an accident. The multi-vehicle crash happened on Campbellsburg Road at Beasley Lane in Campbellsburg.

Kentucky State Police troopers and Henry County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene. Preliminary investigation shows that a blue Chevrolet pickup truck that drove across the center of the road collided with an oncoming silver KIA. The pickup continued south until it collided head-on with a white Jeep Cherokee.

The van operator has been identified as Tonja Stines, a 37-year-old woman from Pleasureville. Stines was taken to hospital following her injuries. Stines was cited for wanton endangerment 1st degree, operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance 1st, assault 2nd degree, possession of a controlled substance 1st degree 1st offense (methamphetamine), possession of a controlled substance 2nd degree and possession of drug paraphernalia. Due to her injuries, Stines was cited and released from the hospital.

The operator of the silver KIA was Kevin Shannon, a 36-year-old man from Campbellsburg. Shannon was not transported from the scene. The driver of the white Jeep has been identified as Timothy Helm, a 37-year-old man from Bedford. Helm was also taken to hospital following the injuries he sustained.

In addition to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Kentucky State Police Station 5 was also assisted on the scene by the Campbellsburg Fire Department, Henry County Emergency Department, the Air Emergency Service, Lake Jericho Fire Department, and New Castle Fire Department.

The investigation is ongoing and led by the Kentucky State Police Post 5.
