Animal Crossing: New Horizons Fall Update brings a number of new items, recipes, and events.

Perhaps the biggest event this fall is the Halloween event which takes place on October 31st from 5:00 pm to 12:00 am Although the event can take place at the end of the month, Halloween is in full swing at Starting October 1 as you begin your month-long preparations for the big event.

The official Halloween event is hosted by Jack, the Halloween Tsar, and starts at 5:00 p.m. on October 31 and ends at 12:00 a.m. During this time, you will have the opportunity to play or have fun with your fellow villagers by exchanging candies for recipes and lollipops.

You can even swap your candies and lollipops with Jack to receive unique and exclusive Halloween-themed items, such as a replica Jack’s costume, a spooky wand, and a spooky carriage. As you interact with the villagers around your island, you’ll even unlock all-new reactions like Haunt and Scare!

Candy is a limited-time item that can be purchased from Nook’s Cranny throughout the month of October for 120 bells each. Unfortunately, you can only buy one candy per day.

Candy will play a big part in the Halloween event on October 31, as it will be used for Trick or Treat with the villagers on your island to receive exclusive Halloween items.

Since the purchase limit is set at just 1 per day, it’s important that you stay somewhat consistent with your candy purchases throughout the month, otherwise you might struggle to collect all the Spooky recipes on the 31st. October.

Having traveled back in time to the event, we strongly recommend that you have at least 15 candies before attending the event, the more the more ideal.

While it can be done with much less, you will definitely have a hard time getting all of the DIY recipes and lollipops during the event, as stopping frequently to receive free candy from the villagers can be very time consuming.

If you struggled to collect a decent stack of candy before the Halloween event, don’t worry too much as the villagers around your island will be more than happy to share their candy if you have a Halloween costume. .

Talk to the villagers inside their houses while wearing a costume

To get free candy, simply wear your costume on October 31st and talk to the villagers who are staying inside their homes after the event starts at 5:00 p.m. By talking to them, you will receive 1 free candy.

When you run out of Candy, this step can be repeated after a short period of time.

Dress like Jack and talk to the villagers

Alternatively, after speaking with Jack and giving him two candies, you will receive Jack’s Face and Jack’s Robe.

When you wear this costume and talk with the villagers on your island, you will scare them away and give you a free piece of Candy.

It should be noted that this method can only be practiced once per villager.

What better way to start your Halloween preparations than the good ol ‘pumpkin. To start growing pumpkins, you must first get your hands on seeds.

Fortunately, Pumpkin Starts are easy to find and can be purchased at two different locations – Nook’s Cranny and Leif – throughout October.

Before you rush, it’s important to note that Pumpkin Starts can cause you to lose quite a bit of Bells, especially when buying from Nook’s Cranny.

The best place to buy pumpkin seeds

As the table below shows, pumpkin starts are significantly more expensive when purchased from Nook’s Cranny, which will set you back 280 bells.

For this reason, we strongly recommend that you purchase all of your Pumpkin Starts from Leif, who only charges 140 bells per pumpkin departure.

Starting price of the pumpkin
1 seed 5 seeds (loose)
Nook’s Cranny 280 bells
Leif 140 bells 700 bells

Much like flowers, pumpkins are grown the same and will yield more depending on the number of times they are watered.

For a detailed look at pumpkin harvest rates, see the table below.

Pumpkin harvest rate
once watered Pumpkin yields
0 1
1 2
2 3

After planting your Pumpkin Starts, it will take them 4 days to fully grow and be able to harvest. After harvesting the pumpkins, just leave them planted and water them. From there, it will take two days for them to grow back.

Unfortunately, pumpkins will grow back the same color and just like the initial process, their rates of return will depend on how many times you’ve watered them.

Pumpkin color types

Pumpkins can currently be grown in 4 different colors and while you only need your more traditional orange-colored pumpkins for spooky DIY recipes, the other three colors can be used for customization.

Pumpkins can be grown in the following four colors:

  • Green
  • Orange
  • White
  • Yellow

At this point, the pumpkin colors are currently random and there is no way to grow a specific color of your choice.

Jack, the Halloween Tsar, is the candy-loving host of the Halloween event in Animal Crossing: New Horizons which takes place on October 31st.

In most cases, Jack walks around the area by Residential Services from 5:00 p.m. to midnight on October 31st.

How to find Jacques

What days does Jack visit

Unfortunately, Jack only visits your island on October 31 from 5:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., so be sure to make the most of his visit.

Lollipops are unique candies that can be used to get exclusive Halloween-themed rewards from Jack, the Halloween Tsar.

The best way for players to get lollipops is by giving your villagers candy during the Halloween event on October 31st.

By giving Candy to the villager, you will receive an item in return. Although the article is Halloween On the theme, it’s not guaranteed to be a lollipop and instead could be a DIY recipe for a new Halloween item.

For this reason, it is recommended that you have a few candies on hand, as it may take you several tries to get each lollipop.

Although nothing is confirmed, we found out during our experience that if a villager were to give you a lollipop, they were more likely to give additional lollipops in the future compared to other villagers roaming around your island.

How to use pacifiers

Lollipops are precisely Jack’s favorite treat and after giving him two candies and receiving a replica of his costume, he will start asking for lollipops in exchange for unique and exclusive rewards.

By giving Jack a lollipop, he will reward you with an exclusive DIY recipe for a Halloween-themed item. In total, you will need three Lollipops to get the three unique recipes.

You will receive the following Halloween-themed DIY recipes:

  • Lollipop 1: Scary Cart
  • Lollipop 2: spooky carriage recipe
  • Lollipop 3: Scary Wand
