Dying Light 2’s Latest Patch Includes New Game Plus, Which Will “Dramatically Change” Gameplay

0

Dying Light 2’s latest patch, 1.03, includes dozens of changes, including a New Game Plus mode that developer Techland says will “significantly change” gameplay.

After completing the Dying Light 2 story (but not all 500+ hours of content), players can restart the game and experience it again with additional changes. Although Techland remained somewhat vague in their ratings, Part 2 will acknowledge that this is not the player’s first time tweaking some content and adding new and exclusive things to do.

New content, completely unavailable in the first part of Dying Light 2, includes: 30 new inhibitors, new platinum objectives for parkour challenges, updated distribution of enemies (e.g. Volatiles and Banshee will now spawn during the night) , a new legendary weapon level, gold encounters and enemy difficulty that will scale with player level.

In all the save files, Techland also fixed a number of buggy quests and added a new one called Something Big Has Been Here, which introduces a new Mutated Infected variant.

The developer is surprisingly upfront about the other changes, clearly saying that “enemies with bows are less annoying” now. The bug making certain enemies invulnerable to damage has been fixed along with similar issues, and the patch also updates the recording of achievements so that everything appears as it should.

A significant number of changes to Dying Light 2’s co-op mode have also been made, mostly quality of life improvements and fixes for connection issues that will hopefully help alleviate the issues players have been experiencing while playing. with others since launch.

Techland said overall stability has been improved, progress blocking issues such as certain NPCs not spawning have been fixed, and issues such as the game not recognizing and therefore spawning enemies around the player that joined have also been resolved. The rest of the patch notes (available below) cover similar issues such as crash fixes and improved texture optimization.

Techland announced the update earlier this month and promised it was one of the biggest fixes yet. Being the biggest patch would certainly be impressive given that the day one update included over 1,000 fixes, resolving some of the issues highlighted in IGN’s 7/10 review: “Dying Light 2 is a thrilling adventure. Ambitious zombie action packed with top-notch parkour, an awesome open world, and all the painful bugs in the book.

Despite the early issues, the game still proved to be incredibly popular, smashing its way onto Steam’s top 25 most played games list and selling over five million copies in its first month.
