Calvin Lakhan Elected to SGP Board of Directors


Sayville, NY – The Sustainable Green Printing Partnership (SGP), the leading authority on sustainable printing certifications, announced the election of Calvin Lakhan, Ph.D. of the Consortium for Circularity of Waste (CWC) to its board of directors.

Lakhan is a specialist in the field of environmental resource management and economics. In addition to serving on the academic committee of the CWC, Lakhan is co-investigator of the “Waste Wiki” project at York University, Toronto. His research aims to advance understanding of waste management research and policy.

“I am honored to be elected Director of SGP and look forward to working with its community to better understand how emerging trends in waste management legislation are likely to affect them,” Lakhan said. “Producer liability legislation is gaining traction in jurisdictions across North America and Europe, and it is critical that SGP understands what this means for the printing industry and how best to approach these policies in a manner consistent with SGP’s sustainability objectives.

He is Canada’s leading expert on waste management research and policy, authoring over 100 articles and reports,” said Jonathan Graham, President of SGP and Representative of TE Connectivity. “Calvin is a key member of the community in our Toronto hub, which includes several SGP-certified facilities and universities, leading the way in educating the next generation in print sustainability.”

Lakhan will work with other members of the SGP community to develop the SGP Academic Committee that will engage and educate students on the SGP mission. Lakhan joins Birdley James of Miller Zell as new SGP directors as well as re-elected officers and directors:
