On Friday, April 22, 2022, the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) will host a webinar titled “Ethanol Roadmap for 2025”. GPS Renewables is sponsoring the webinar. The webinar will highlight the market opportunity of 1G Ethanol projects to achieve India’s target of 20% blending of ethanol with gasoline by 2025.
The webinar will cover topics such as debt financing and raw material availability, project risks such as inputs, technology and production, technology readiness and government policies. The webinar will bring together a diverse group of ethanol industry players to discuss the challenges projects face in becoming debt ready.
To meet the 20% target, India’s ethanol production must increase to 10.2 billion liters, with 5.5 billion liters of 1G ethanol produced from sugarcane and 4.7 billion liters produced from grain, according to the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI Aayog).
The current ethanol production capacity in India is 3 billion liters. Some of the main challenges to meet the ethanol blending target are the lack of financial stability to invest in biofuel plants and the uncertainty about the future price of bioethanol.
